HEEF
Seeks Board Members The HEEF seeks dynamic Hopi and non-Hopi board members who wish to contribute their experience, expertise and resources. Fund board members may serve on any of the following committees: Administrative Management Committee, Development Committee, Investment Committee, Nomination Committee or Executive Committee. The Executive Committee is a 7-member committee elected from the general members and acts as the fiduciary of the fund. HEEF Executive Director, LuAnn Leonard stated, "HEEF board members are a critical piece of the puzzle in growing and maintaining the Fund for future generations of Hopi students". The main grantee of HEEF dollars is the Hopi Tribe's Grants and Scholarship Program, which awards grants and scholarships to Hopi students across the U.S. The HEEF also funds other educational programs such as the Hopilavayi Summer Institute and the Hopitutukaiki Summer Arts Program. Nomination Chair, Gloria Lomahaftewa added, "Volunteering your time to serve on the HEEF is a great way to give back to your community while supporting future generations of Hopi". Any Hopi individual or current Member may recommend a person for election to the HEEF board. Nominations are accepted until 5:00 p.m. June 5, 2009. The HEEF is a non-profit entity of the Hopi Tribe. To submit a nomination contact Vernon Kahe at vkahe@hopieducationfund.org or call 928-734-2275 |
