Headed into the final day of the 2011 HEEF Alumni Challenge, the Lumberjacks from Northern Arizona University (NAU) were able to overtake the Wildcats from the University of Arizona (U of A) and secured the title with $2,224 pledged/donated. Overall, a record of $4,611 was raised from the challenge with U of A donating/pledging $1,744 followed by Arizona State University with $405 and alumni from Dartmouth, the University of Washington, Air Force Academy and University of California-Riverside combining to donate $220.

As educational costs continue to rise, the alumni challenge is a great way for Hopi college graduates to become involved in helping to offset educational expenses for future Hopi students. Mrs. LuAnn Leonard, HEEF Executive Director and 83' NAU alumnus, stated, “This is a great way for Hopi college grads to say thanks and give back to the Hopi Tribe for the scholarship support they received while pursuing their degree(s)”
