2017 Final Totals
Every year since 2004, the HEEF has held a friendly competition among four alumni groups - Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, the University of Arizona, and the Arizona Crushers (a collective of all other schools). The group that raises the most funds is declared the winner at the end of the competition. The HEEF Alumni Challenge is responsible for raising over $50,000 in its past 13 iterations.
Out of the past 13 competitions, the NAU alumni group has won ten times, including last year's challenge. They are always the group to beat. The AZ Crushers are the only group besides NAU to win the Alumni Challenge more than once. This will be another opportunity for teams ASU and U of A to make an impact in the standings.
The Alumni Challenge is a unique opportunity for those who have had the gift of a post-secondary education to give back and allow a Hopi student the chance to make their educational dreams a reality. This campaign combines school spirit, school rivalries, and competitiveness into a beneficial campaign for our Hopi people. This fundraising effort also gets HEEF board members and staff heavily involved and battling among each other to show pride for their respective alma maters.
The goal for the 14th annual Alumni Challenge was to raise $10,000 - enough to
- fund one student for five semesters!
- fund two students for a year!
- fund five students for a semester!
We raised $10,705.00!
